It’s been over half a century since the holocaust. By the time everything was said and done, there were counts of 6 million people murdered. Killing 6 million people is hard work, really. By the time the war came to an end, there were “factories” and armies, whose sole purpose was to “kill” people in the “most efficient” manner possible.
But how did the world allow such an atrocity? The answer is easy, right? The “Germans” are “bad” people. “Those” people were so easily “manipulated” by Hitler. “Those” Germans are dumb, blah, blah, blah. That would never happen to us, the “righteous”, the allies, the winners. Really?
In the US, there is a presidential race for the 2016 election. Like all elections, the politicians are trying to appeal to as many people as possible. Previous elections have talked about “The Terrorists”, others about “Our security”, “Jobs”, “Tax-breaks”, etc, etc, etc.
However, as far as I can remember, they have never talked about “People” in such a hateful manner. The most popular republican runner is Donald Trump. He’s a businessman that wants to “Make America Great Again”. That’s a great motto and something that few people could disagree with. I mean, who is going to say, I’m against Trump’s motto?
But how do you make “America Great Again”? Hell, is America really not that great? When did that change? I thought “America was the greatest place in the world”.
But I digress, let us try to “Make America Great Again”. How do you do that? Well, if the answer were easy, it would not be “Not Great” in the first place. The fact of the matter is that America is, well, America.
- It’s the land of opportunity, yes (I can attest to that), but also the land of racial discrimination (I can attest to that as well).
- It’s the richest country the world has ever seen, but also the only first-world country without health insurance.
- It’s the land of with the best and most prestigious schools, but also the land with the highest cost to attend those schools.
- I can go on and on, but you get the point. Basically America is a land of contradictions.
So what do you do when you want to make “America Great Again”? You create another contradiction. “Illegals are taking our jobs”, and you have a billionaire say it. I am certain, that all of the “jobs” these “Illegals” are taking, are jobs that Trump and Trump supporters would have taken and are now gone to the “Illegals”. It’s the “Illegals” that are causing all of the issues in America. It’s “those” people. As soon as we get rid of “those” people, “America Will Be Great Again”.
So you see, since I’m not an “Illegal” it’s not my problem and he’s not talking about me.
I am reminded of this beautiful, but scary poem:
First they came for the Socialists, and I did not speak out— Because I was not a Socialist. Then they came for the Trade Unionists, and I did not speak out— Because I was not a Trade Unionist. Then they came for the Jews, and I did not speak out— Because I was not a Jew. Then they came for me—and there was no one left to speak for me
Hmmmm…. I do recall previous elections being about “Radical Islam”… but hey, I don’t practice Islam, nor I’m an “Illegal”…. I’ll be fine… and remember, this type of manipulation of the people could only have worked on the “Germans”
